Looking at the HTC One V, a lot of people would find it a handsome piece of hardware. It is big enough to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand and not too light for it to feel cheap. It sort of reminds me of the design of the Sony Xperia S, especially with the lip (or chin) at the bottom, minus the sharp edges and the plastic bar. The chin is weird. I do not see its purpose. The unibody is very good though. It gives a very sturdy feel to the phone.
The HTC One V’s display, although only at 3.7 inches with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, is still beautiful. Its multi-touch IPS screen is not something to be taken lightly, and it deserves a second look. The HTC One V readily joined the Ice Cream Sandwich bandwagon, affording its users the luxury of enjoying numerous applications and features that makes the experience of using the smartphone more pleasurable. Multitasking is seamless and more convenient, thanks to the MotoBlur and TouchWhiz 4.0 version of HTC.
Unlike the quad-core power of the HTC One X or the dual-core HTC One S, the HTC One V is fitted with only the most basic of necessities – a 1GHz single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU. Though there is no lag experience when doing multiple tasks at once, a bit of slow-down is observed when playing 3D games. Unlike its predecessors’ huge internal memory, the One V only has 4GB of storage space. But also unlike its predecessors, it’s the first in the One series to have a microSD slot. With just 4GB of internal memory, the One V surely needs it.
When talking about the HTC One V’s camera, I guess you can’t complain with its 5-megapixel sensor. The One X and the One S is fitted with an 8-megapixel camera, but they are also more expensive than the One V. For its price range, 5 megapixels is not bad. It also has the convenient LED flash.
The way I see it, the HTC One V blurs the lines for midrange smartphones everywhere. It is a great smartphone for people on the go, and it is not too heavy on the pockets, both literally and figuratively. I guess you could never really expect too much from something that is priced so. The specs of the One V befit its price, and consumers could not really complain because they are getting what they have paid for. I’m not crazy over the phone, but I do not dislike it either. I’m giving three and a half stars (out of 5) rating for the One V.
